My name is Seanra Kalil and I am a certified physician associate who believes strongly in the importance of combining counseling with medication. I have experience treating patients with major depression, treatment resistant depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, attention issues, psychotic disorders, substance abuse disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. Working with such a wide range of patients has shown me the value of addressing more than just their symptoms. Over the last few years, I have learned how nutrition and lifestyle changes can improve mental health. Such changes often complement therapy and medication, allowing for more sustainable progress. In my practice, I strive to create a collaborative and supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered in their care.

Background

I began my career as a physician associate over 20 years ago, working across a variety of medical fields: neurology, otolaryngology, sports medicine, allergy, and gastroenterology. I later acted as a sub-investigator in clinical research, with a focus on psychiatric medications and sleep disorders. These experiences gave me a broad medical foundation, but in 2019 I chose to concentrate on psychiatry, the area that most inspires me. My training also includes a Master of Arts in Art Therapy, which shapes my holistic approach to care. I emphasize the importance of integrating counseling and lifestyle improvements with treatment, tailoring care to each client’s needs. Outside of clinical practice, I enjoy giving back by assisting the Northwestern University Physician Assistant Program with its application process, helping future providers begin their own journeys in medicine.
