We have three groups that meet for one hour each week on Zoom.

The two ground rules for group are: maintaining privacy of group members, and interacting and engaging with other group members respectfully. Other than that, this is a safe place to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. Participants are encouraged to interact and ask each other questions. Members often say that being in a group has opened up their mind to alternative viewpoints in a way not experienced in individual sessions. Each week we will do a check-in and also review a topic (usually a homework assignment of a short reading or a video). The group members will share their experiences related to that topic so that there is a cohesive theme to each session. Topics are developed by group members depending on what is most pertinent at the time, but here are some topics that have been discussed:

Topics

  • procrastination

  • anger

  • medications / chemical imbalances

  • sleep

  • substance use

  • developing goals

  • social anxiety

  • existential anxiety

  • actionable strategies

  • trauma, coping

  • separating emotions from thoughts – CBT, rational emotive behavioral therapy.

  • emotional maturity

  • communication

  • forgiveness

Some advantages of group sessions:

  • Sharing a sense of common humanity with others where you realize you are not alone in what you are experiencing.

  • You get an opportunity to learn coping strategies from your peers and feel less isolated.

  • You can meet other individuals from around the country without leaving your home.

  • Begin to build a sense of community despite having physical separation.

  • Improve upon any social anxiety you have in group settings.

Please reach out to us directly and let us know of your interest in group sessions!

Your copay would be the same as a regular session unless your insurance plan specifically outlines the amount for a group session – we can check beforehand.
