Why Telehealth is for everyone

June 21, 2018

Among young patients, studies have found that individuals felt the sessions were helpful, had given them a sense of personal choice, and they liked the technology used. Among individuals treated for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, there was high satisfaction among parents, patients, and providers. Furthermore, among children, diagnosis is reliable in early studies.

Among geriatric services, telemental health evaluations are seen to be more facile and efficient in terms of use of consultant time. Assessment, cognitive intervention and outcomes appear to be similar to in-person care.

In considering telemental health services, individuals of various ethnicities, cultures, and languages may decide to pursue services online for different reasons. Studies have found that some factors that affect decision making include: using providers who value differences, quality of provider’s care, access to care, and availability of interpreters for use with patients.
