If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, we provide a superbill with the visit and diagnosis codes your insurer needs — many PPO plans reimburse a meaningful share of the cost.

Under the federal No Surprises Act, every self-pay patient receives a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before starting care — so the number on this page is also the number in writing.

Request an appointment and select self-pay. No insurance card and no eligibility checks — just pick a time and tell us what you'd like help with.

STEP 02

Get your cost in writing

Before your first visit you receive a Good Faith Estimate listing your expected charges, and a card is kept securely on file. Nothing is charged before you are seen.

STEP 03

Pay the flat rate after each visit

After each appointment your card is charged the published rate — HSA and FSA cards are welcome. Want to seek reimbursement? Ask us for a superbill any time.

Your protections

Your cost in writing, before care starts

Under the federal No Surprises Act, anyone who is uninsured or chooses not to use insurance has the right to a Good Faith Estimate — a written list of expected charges — before starting care. We provide one to every self-pay patient, and you can request one at any time, even before booking.

If a bill ever came in $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, federal law would give you the right to dispute it. In practice, our flat per-visit rates mean the estimate and the charge are the same number.

Have out-of-network benefits? Ask for a superbill — an itemized receipt with the CPT and diagnosis codes insurers require — and submit it to your plan for reimbursement toward your out-of-network deductible and benefits.

We're in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Shield, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, and Medicare in the states where we're licensed, and we accept straight New York Medicaid. Common questions about Self-pay rates

How much does an online psychiatrist cost without insurance?

At TelepsychHealth, an initial psychiatric evaluation is a flat $450 with a psychiatrist (MD) or $225 with a psychiatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Follow-up medication-management visits are $225 with a psychiatrist and $150 with an NP or PA. Individual therapy sessions are $150 with a licensed therapist, $195 with an NP or PA, and $350 with a psychiatrist, and group therapy is $45 per session for Texas and Florida residents. The same rates apply in all ten states we serve.

Can I pay with an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy are qualified medical expenses, so you can pay with a health savings account or flexible spending account card just like any other card.

Will my insurance reimburse me if TelepsychHealth is out of network?

Many PPO plans include out-of-network mental health benefits that reimburse part of the cost of your visits after you meet an out-of-network deductible. We provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the procedure and diagnosis codes insurers require — that you submit to your plan. Reimbursement rules vary by plan, so check your out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits; we can't guarantee what your insurer will pay.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written list of your expected charges that federal law (the No Surprises Act) entitles you to when you're uninsured or choose not to use insurance. We provide one before your first visit and any time you ask. Because our self-pay rates are flat per-visit prices, your estimate matches what you're actually charged.

Are there any fees besides the visit rate?

No — there are no memberships, platform fees, or setup costs. The only other charge you could ever see is a late-cancellation or missed-appointment fee, which is disclosed when you book; canceling with enough notice costs nothing.

Can I switch between self-pay and insurance later?

Yes. If you get coverage we're in-network with, we'll verify your benefits and bill your plan for visits going forward — and if you lose coverage, you can switch to self-pay without interrupting care. Call us at (888) 730-5220 and we'll sort out which path costs you less.

Does the visit price include medication?

Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy and the medication itself is billed by the pharmacy, not by us. Most first-line psychiatric medications have inexpensive generic versions, and your clinician will factor cost into what they prescribe.

Which states can I book a self-pay visit in?

All ten states where our clinicians are licensed: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Texas. Every visit is by secure video, so you can be seen from home anywhere in your state.
